Image Requirements for ID Documents

What is an acceptable ID photo?

Image Requirements:

• Full color image
• All details on ID are readable
• ID is well lit with no glare or reflection blocking information
• ID is in good shape and not altered in any way
• ID is in upright position
• ID occupies most of the image
• Background is visible all around the ID by 1-2 cm (1/2” to 1”)
• Background is a contrasting color

Reasons for rejection:

• Image is black and white (or grayscale)
• Image has a watermark
• Image is blurred
• Image has any obfuscation
• ID details are obscured by light glare or reflections (be careful with flash)
• ID is torn, badly damaged, or has holes
• ID is expired
• ID is rotated sideways or upside down
• Too much space around the ID
• ID edge is cropped (even if just a little bit), we must see all 4 corners
• Background is the same color as the ID
