Debit Card Users
MasterCard is requiring many websites to add an additional layer of security when making online purchases. At the end of your purchase a pop-up window may appear asking for your MasterCard Secure Code. This is a code that you will need to set up using the link below. Once it is set, it can be used for any site requesting it. If you do not enter a MasterCard Secure Code, your purchase will not process.
This extra level of security is to protect you and your funds from possible counterfeit or stolen debit cards.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please call us at 334-335-3346 and ask for the Electronic Banking Department.
After you sign up for MasterCard Secure Code you will see a PA (pending Authorization) of a $1.00 from ARCOT SYSTEMS, INC. in your account. (It will look like this: PA-ARCOT SYSTEMS, INC.) This is a TEMPORARY AUTHORIZATION just to verify that your card is active, the system will automatically remove the $1.00 within 3 business days. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO SIGN UP FOR MasterCard Secure Code. We Apologize for any confusion that this has caused.”
MasterCard Secure Code Announcement
This affects ONLINE PURCHASES ONLY!!!
It has been brought to our attention that there are multiple merchants online that have agreed to be MasterCard Secure Merchants but have failed to have their website set up correctly to receive orders from debit cards that are partnered with SHAZAM, which is First Citizens Bank.
SHAZAM and First Citizens are working hard with MasterCard and the merchants to try to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, please be aware that you may have issues and denied purchases from certain merchants while using your debit card until this is resolved.
Your options are, if possible, to use a PayPal account (https://www.paypal.com/home)with your debit card programmed for the form of payment or to use another form of payment.
We apologize for this major inconvenience and please be assured that we are working to rectify the problem.
Below is the list of known merchants with this problem:
- Toys R Us
- Delta Airlines
- Dicks Sporting Goods
- Microsoft Online
Please note that if you visit any one of the above stores, if that is available, that you will NOT have a problem using your First Citizens Bank Debit Card at the store.
